How car lockouts are opened

Modern vehicles are opened with proper automotive tools — an air wedge to create a small gap and a long-reach tool to operate the interior handle or lock button. Done correctly this leaves no trace on the paint, the weather seal, or the window.

The reason this matters: the old coat-hanger method that still circulates online was designed for cars built decades ago. On anything modern, the door cavity is packed with wiring, side-airbag components, and the window regulator. People trying it themselves regularly cause several hundred dollars of damage to avoid a much smaller callout.

Call 911 first, then call us. On a hot Missouri day a closed car becomes dangerous within minutes, and emergency services are equipped to act immediately. Don’t wait on a locksmith in that situation.
